As of April 1, 2021, all international travelers to the Mexican state of Quintana Roo which includes Cancun, Playa del Carmen and Tulum will be required to pay a new visitor fee called Visitax. The fee is 224 Mexican Pesos or about $12 US dollars per traveler and is payable online prior to arrival in the state of Quintana Roo or at Cancun International Airport during their stay. The purpose of the VISITAX fee is to aid in the recovery of hospitality & tourism during this challenging time. It will also help to overcome the negative economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and fund future tourism development projects in the region.

To reduce airport delays and lineups for paying this tax, the state of Quintana Roo has appointed an official contractor to automate the process. This Canadian-based company has been selected to provide a fast and easy solution that will save travelers both time and money by eliminating the need for them to pay in person at the airport. The application allows for up to 10 visits to be processed in one transaction so it is convenient for families and friends travelling together.

Travelkore has recently launched an official VISITAX website for visitors to easily submit their visitax information and complete the payment process online from the comfort of home before they depart for their trip. The site offers detailed instructions on how to pay the fee, what documents are required and more. It’s quick, simple and supports tourism development.
